I had such a wonderful experience at Madison Ave Furs. Larry - who was so much fun to work with - figured out a way to match the grey mink collar of my mother's 50-yr old Persian Lamb coat perfectly. Her arms were shorter than mine, so I wanted to add mink cuffs to make it work for me. It wasn't an easy ask, since the color of the mink (which had oxidized) was not easy to match. Larry took on the job with zeal, and, somehow, matched it perfectly! It meant a lot to me since I will now be able to wear my mother's coat to my daughter's wedding. Very reasonable pricing as well. I had a great time! Kirk, Larry's partner, is very knowledgeable and nice, too. I highly recommend them

What a great experience that I had with Larry! I had a vintage fur coat previously owned by late my mother-in-law. I wanted to honor her by wearing the coat. The style of the coat looked dated and I was looking for it to have a more modern look. I let Larry know what my intentions were and he walked me through what he could do to achieve that. I am so pleased with the work that was done. The alterations done made the coat look modern. With the length that was cut from the fur, Larry suggested creating a scarf--love it too and had enough left over to gift my sister with one--she is pleased with it as well. I can't believe that it is the same coat and can't wait to wear it. The service was exceptional and everyone was so kind. I enjoyed doing business with them and will be back.

When I decided to remodel my fur coat, my son, who had worked in the fashion business, suggested I confer with Henry Cowit because they have been in the fur business for many years and have a solid reputation. I am so glad he sent me there. Larry Cowit could not have been more accommodating and generous with his advice. The end result is that I now have a beautifully re-fashioned coat that i will enjoy wearing for many years. These folks know what they're doing and they know what customer service means. Don't hesitate to contact them.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Larry to salvage and repair my favorite fur, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. My fur coat was extremely damaged and hardened from a flood. What seemed like an impossible task was met with expertise and dedication. He went out of his way to ensure that the repair was done to the highest standard, making it look as good as new. The entire process was smooth and speedy. Larry is easy to work with, personable, offers decent prices, and clearly takes pride in his work. We felt comfortable enough to purchase new pieces and are excited to use them this coming fall / winter season. I highly recommend Larry for any fur repair needs and will definitely be returning for future services!

I had the BEST shopping and alterations experience here! The owners are so kind and helpful. I came in with a vintage fur coat that I wanted to get redesigned and modernized. I had a price in mind that I was willing to pay. Larry walked me through what changes could be made to the coat and the total cost was about half (!) of what I had in mind. I was amazed! I learned so much from Larry and had so much fun shopping with him and redesigning my coat. The entire experience was very consultative, and I never felt like I was being upsold or ripped off. I ended up buying a second coat, too! The alterations took about two weeks and my “new” coat looks amazing! I can’t wait to wear it next winter. I can’t recommend this place enough!

I brought a broadtail coat with a chinchilla collar to Madison Ave. Furs which was almost 60 years old. The chinchilla collar was so dry that large chunks of the collar fell out with the slightest touch. The coat belonged to my Mom and was a gift to her from my Dad for her 40th birthday back in 1965. I always loved the coat not only because it was beautiful but because my Mom looked so beautiful wearing it. Now that she is gone that coat reminds me of her and how lucky I was to have had such a wonderful mother. I looked for someone to replace the collar and found Madison Ave. Furs. I met with both Henry and Larry Cowit and after speaking with them for a few minutes I knew I brought this coat to the right place. They told me the collar could be replaced with a “ chinchilla” collar made from rex rabbit fur in the same style as the old collar. Today I picked up the coat. The new collar is just gorgeous. The coat with the new collar is just magnificent. I can’t wait to wear it and show off the very fine workmanship of this superb business. It was a pleasure doing business with Henry and Larry. I will wear that coat with so many warm and happy memories of my Mom and for that I thank them from the bottom of my heart. Nancy Buscemi

Great service, these two brothers make you want to spend money. Had a chinchilla collar put on my mink bomber and Larry suggested to use the mink collar on a leather jacket, great idea. Looks fabulous. Also purchased a mink bomber for the misses. Will return soon
